Going Places' Hartford Elementary Bike Build/Reveal, presented by

Help us build 830 bikes to surprise every student that attends the low-income school, Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary with a new, custom bike, lock, helmet and bike pump!
The nonprofit, Going Places, has partnered with The DeeAnn Flores Schertz Foundation to provide the joy of a bike to every child that attends Hartford Elementary in memory of DeeAnn Flores Schertz. These bikes will be given on what would have been DeeAnn's 60th birthday as well as the anniversary of the day she passed away. The bikes will be lovingly named "The Blessing".
These purpose of these bikes is to focus on the children's social-emotional health. These bikes provide them with freedom and escape from an often unpredictable home, with a sense of ownership over something of value, and with a sense of restored innocence, but at the end of the day, it's a classic JOY all children deserve to experience.
BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN!! We need volunteers to come help BUILD all 830 bikes in 5 days, load them into multiple trucks, and then to come to the bike reveal at the school and help us surprise all of the kids!
GENERAL INFO TO KNOW:

Must sign up in advance for a time slot to attend (may sign up for more than 1)

If you cannot make the time slot you signed up for, PLEASE delete your sign-up in advance

Anyone under 18yrs of age must be accompanied by an adult
BIKE BUILD INFO:
- No need to know how to build a bike in advance, it's much easier than you think and we will show you!
- If you don't want to build a bike, we have MANY other jobs you can do
- There are plenty of jobs that kids can do!
- BIKE REVEAL INFO:
How the day will work:
- Volunteers will arrive early (see each bike reveal sign up for times) to help unload all bikes, locks, helmets, and bike pumps off of the semi trucks. Then we need to cover the bikes for the surprise bike reveal
- The wholoe school will come outside and all of the volunteers will uncover all off of the bikes, surprising the kids!
- Going Places and The DeeAnn Flores Schertz Foundation along with some volunteers will remain at the school until the end of the day as parents come and check-out their child’s bike
- At the end of the day, we will move any remaining bikes not picked up inside of the school
Please note, by registering to volunteer with Going Places, you are agreeing to the understanding that there are certain dangers, hazards, and risks inherent in volunteering in the activities to be engaged in during the bike build and bike reveal which can cause personal injury, death and property damage. By registering to volunteer, you are agreeing that you further understand that Going Places, Going Places' Board of Directors, Charleston County School District, Chandler Unified District, Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary, and the location of the bike build cannot and does not assume responsibility for any such personal injury, death or property damage. You are participating as a volunteer on a voluntary basis and have not been induced to do so by Going Places or any other person.
By registering to volunteer with Going Places, you are agreeing to assume all the risks surrounding your participation in the bike build and/or bike reveal and in the activities you undertake in connection therewith; and you release and forever discharge Going Places, Going Places' Board of Directors, Charleston County School District, Chandler Unified District, Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary and the location of the bike build, their trustees, officers, agents, employees, from any and all liability for any injury, damage, loss, cost or expense (including, without limitation, reasonable attorney’s fees) of any nature that you may at any time have or incur, arising out of or in any manner related to any loss, damage, or injury, including but not limited to suffering and death, that may be sustained to you or by any property belonging to you while volunteering with Going Places.

PARKING: You will park in the parking lot off of Sunset and Monterey (the actual entrance is off of Sunset.) Directly next to the parking lot is the North Field and that is where the reveal will take place. There is a double gate open onto the field from Sunset for overflow parking against the fence.
